Proclamations of Faith |
by David A. DePra
On Overcoming:
Overcoming means I stand by faith in the victory of
Jesus Christ against all that would move me. It is
a warfare, not to win ground, but to hold ground.
If I approach sin from the premise that it must be
defeated, I have already lost. I must approach it from
the premise that it HAS been defeated.
Freedom from sin is not something I can win. It is
already won for me. But I can never experience it
unless I believe and obey.
Freedom from sin does not mean I cannot sin. It
means I do not need to sin. Overcoming is a process
whereby I put this freedom into practice.
I must overcome what Jesus overcame. But I must do
it by standing in HIS victory.
The greatest enemy of overcoming is the constant
barrage of lies from the enemy which suggest to me
that my failures are proof that victory is not possible.
